Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End

No one could have anticipated the success of a movie based on a Disney ride, but "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" did just that. Even with talented veterans like Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush and rising stars like Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom, most in the industry didn't give the film a chance.
Four years and $1.6 billion later, "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" is set to take the world by storm, and its legions of fans and adoring press are more than happy to go along for the ride.
Featuring extremely popular characters like Depp's roguish Captain Jack Sparrow and Knightley's edgy debutant Elizabeth Swann, the first two "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies captured the imagination of audiences around the world with its witty writing and unique locales. Captain Jack especially had several memorable one liners that became instant quotables, as Depp did an amazing job creating a half-drunk, half-brilliant charismatic pirate lord, around which the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series revolves.
"Pirates of the Caribbean 3" finds Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann joining Captain Barbosa on a hunt to World's End to try to get Captain Jack Sparrow back from death's clutches. Meanwhile, the world they've left is falling under the control of the evil East India Trading Company and Davey Jones. As Will Turner and Ms. Swann try to rekindle their relationship the world of "Pirates of the Caribbean "unravels around them.
What happens to the heroes and how this chapter of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy plays out will all be answered on May 24th as "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" opens to its U.S. audience at 8 p.m. Many suggest that it will be the biggest blockbuster during a massive, sequel filled summer that has already seen huge successes in "Spiderman" and "Shrek," and is still awaiting the launch of "Transformers" and" Harry Potter." There are even those who believe that the early opening for "Pirates" will help it break "Spiderman 3's" opening weekend earnings record.
That might not be all for the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise. Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom have both expressed interest in playing their respective characters again, given the right script and another significant paycheck. Keira Knightley has waffled somewhat when asked about continuing the series, but given the right circumstances there's no reason to think she couldn't be coaxed back for another trip to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" set. An increasingly stellar cast that includes Jack Davenport as James Norrington, Chow Yun-Fat as Chinese Pirate Captain Feng, and Bill Nighy as Davey Jones gives rise to a lot of talk about series spin-offs and other stories set within the universe as well.
Disney, director Gore Verbinski, and the cast and crew of "Pirates of the Caribbean" have done a fantastic job creating a fun, charming, action filled world that has delighted millions of fans. For now, at least, "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" marks the completion of a journey that started, unbelievably enough, with an amusement park ride and became a billion dollar franchise. No doubt "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" will be a fantastic adventure, and well worth its weight in gold.
